Founded in 1972, Safari Club International has spent the past four decades protecting hunters’ rights and advocating for wildlife conservation. Today, the group consists of 190 chapters and 55,000 members. Regularly engaging in a variety of activities that benefit its mission, this organization has given nearly $47 million to groups and projects since 2000.

In May 2012, Safari Club International announced its donation of $25,000 to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to aid in the study of whitetail deer. The program’s purposes include enhancing game management and better understanding predator populations and hunting patterns. The funds were put towards equipment and staff costs.

Also that month, Safari Club International conducted a fundraiser in Michigan on behalf of The Salvation Army Outdoors. This event, the 6th Annual Sporting Clay Shoot, garnered more than $50,000 for the group.
